Three mountain ranges make a horseshoe around the greater Redding area. With an elevation of only 400 ft. above sea level, the city enjoys many sunny & warm summer days to enjoy the many lakes, rivers and public water parks. The mountains provide winter sports, recreational opportunities, beautiful views and an ample supply of clean water and power.
The City of Redding is the hub of Shasta County and is the government seat for the county. Redding has a population of 80,865, however it provides much of Shasta, Tehama, Siskyou and Trinity Counties with educational, medical, recreational, employment and mercantile services.
Shasta County is located in the extreme northern end of the Sacramento Valley, equal distance between Los Angeles and Seattle on Interstate 5. It is 160 miles north of Sacramento and 230 miles north of San Francisco. There are three incorporated cities in Shasta County, Redding, Anderson and the City of Shasta Lake.
