Anderson boasts some of the county’s most beautiful river front properties, and the new Vineyards subdivision on the west side bluffs, some with views of the Lassen Range. Recently completed is a new affordable senior housing project near shopping and transportation and a 200,000 square foot shopping center across from the Prime Outlets.
Inexpensive irrigation from the Sacramento River and rich river loam soils provide for horse properties, farms, orchards, and country estates. New home construction is “booming” in the Happy Valley area to the west. Some residential areas are on or near prime fishing locations for bass, trout and salmon.
Anderson is an incorporated city just south of Redding in Shasta County. The beautiful Sacramento River winds it way through the city and the wonderful Anderson River Park. The park boasts tennis courts, boat ramp, amphitheater, play ground, fishing, softball, picnic areas and many other opportunities for recreation.
It is home to the Annual Mosquito Serenade, free open-air concerts held during the summer months. Anderson is noted for its exemplary leadership in city government and welcoming attitude toward thoughtful growth. The Shasta District Fairgrounds hosts the large annual district fair and also many other popular events. It features a 1/3 mile asphalt racetrack with grandstand seating of 1500 and satellite horseracing facilities.
The near-by Coleman Fish Hatchery, the largest federal hatchery of its type raises salmon, steelhead & trout for reentry into the wild, and has wonderful viewing and educational opportunities.
